Many teachers struggle with student problems that can frustrate teachers’ lesson plans. Today’s episode looks at various student issues that teachers (and sometimes parents) encounter through various student age levels and discusses how teachers can address these problems.

This episode discusses building a recital preparation checklist, choosing recital selections, setting memorization deadlines, and showing students how to build performance confidence.

This month’s focus or theme is to build an “ideas compendium.” I have identified four crucial areas that often provide stumbling blocks or frustration points for teachers, parents, and students. I discuss how to set up a gathering place for capturing ideas in each of the four areas, and I discuss some possible examples of items to put on the compendium list. The four areas of the ideas compendium are parent woes, student problems/issues, practice woes, and scheduling woes.
